Kangaroo Valley Extension - 2018

This architectural project completed in 2018 was an extension to an existing copper clad home surrounded by lush bushland and sweeping Kangaroo Valley views.

The extension was of robust materiality cream face brick, exposed concrete, black steel, glass, timber, and copper highlights.

The connection from the original home is via a timber and copper clad bridge.

Stairs with copper risers and custom copper handrails connect to the new ground floor or descend to a new cellar.

Lush internal courtyards can be seen from every room.

A raking timber and copper clad ceiling draws southern light into the new living room that connects the outdoor living spaces.

The concrete roof floats above, supporting a roof garden that collects natural rainwater and insulates the home. A geothermal heat exchange system harnesses the stable temperature of the earth 100m below ground to moderate the temperature of the house and pool.

A 20m long array of solar panels now provides all power for the home, which is now off-grid.

Modern Urban Styles

This home, completed in 2013 and designed by local architect David Cox, has many architectural features internally and externally. Some of these include cedar eave linings, double glazing, internal full height joinery doors in limewash Victorian ash timber, feature ceilings of Victorian ash and hidden LED pelmet lighting.

The home is situated on a right of way and has been designed specifically to have minimal impact on neighbouring properties and to ensure maximum garden space and privacy. The design has the living areas on the top floor capturing expansive mountain views.

This home has been judged a finalist in the NSW HIA-CSR Housing Kitchen & Bathroom awards in the category Custom Built Homes under $600,000.00.

Contemporary Styles

A contemporary country style home with many modern architectural features including, floating staircase, extensive use of glass, polished concrete heated flooring and extensive use of marble and limestone features.

Period Designs

Circa 2010 this new Georgian home has all the architectural features of the georgian period, including hand made windows with hand carved features from Australian Cedar using local craftsman. This home is fully solar powered with a hydronics system for domestic hot water and central heating.
